Fresh mountain air, movement and discovering the beauty of the unique Slovak nature - this is also what the word hiking includes. The Podbanské settlement is a crossroads as well as a starting point of marked hiking trails. Its surroundings offer visitors unique leisure opportunities throughout the year. Active hikers will find their hike here, for less fit hikers there are walking trails.
For active hikers we recommend:
- through the settlement Podbanské passing through the important long-distance red marked "Tatra Highway", which can be taken either to Štrbské pleso or the opposite side to the mouth of the Račkova valley (2 hours), Žiarská valley (4 hours) to the mouth of the Jalovecká valley (6 hours).
- directly from the settlement at the starting of the yellow marked trail to the end of Tichá valley, where it is possible to continue to the border Kasprov peak ( 1 985 m - 6 hours), or go through the saddle Závory (1 876 m - 5 hours 30 min.) to the end of Kôprová valley.
- The green marked trail leads to the end of the Kôprová valley, with a turn to the Kmet'ov waterfalls (3 hours), or continue through the Kôprovské saddle and the Mengusová valley to Popradské and Štrbské pleso (10 hours).
- blue marked trail leading to the end of the Kamenistá valley to Pyšné saddle with the possibility of climbing to Bystrá - the highest peak of the Western Tatras (2 248 m.n.m.)
- the most popular green-marked trail, which leads to the Kriváň peak ( 2 494 m.a.s.l.) either directly from the settlement (5 hours) or from the 7 km distant Tri studničky (3 hours 30 min.)
